A few quick safety tips for you on the road
When it comes to safety, modern cars do a lot to protect us. There are a host of active and passive safety systems that are always ready to either prevent an accident or shield the driver and the passengers if a crash is unavoidable.
That said, there are other, more subtle safety tips that are easy to put into action and that will go even further in protecting us. This isn’t a detailed list nor is it final. It’s just a quick check-up that, if performed, will ensure added safety for you, your passengers, and even others on the road.
Make sure your headlights are clean
Over time, your headlights will be damaged by debris that fly at them as you drive along, and their effectiveness will be greatly reduced by dirt that accumulates inside the plastic cover, or simply by damaged caused by the light over time. What matters is that you make sure headlights are clean in order to get improved visibility at night which greatly improves safety.
Clean up your vehicle
You have to see the objects lying around your vehicle as potential projectiles in the event of a crash. Something as benign as the corner of Kleenex box or shoes can injure you or your passengers if they start flying around in a crash.
Check your tires
Your tires are the only contact point between you and the road. Therefore, make sure they are properly inflated and not too worn down. If you’re tires aren’t in perfect condition, you’ll want to get them replaced as soon as possible, and this is not where you want to be too frugal. Again, the only thing touching the road are your tires when you are driving. You don’t want to take any risks with that.
